1 John 2 ;

This is a longer chapter than the first, so I’ll just note what stood out to me.

1 John 2:2 “Christ is the sacrifice that takes away our sins and the sins of all the world’s people.” This is basically like 1 John 1:9, we are forgiven, completely and totally forgiven. We are so unworthy of His forgiveness, but He repeatedly tells us how much we are forgiven in His Word.

1 John 2:3-6 is basically telling us to be authentic and to not say one thing and do another.

1 John 2:9-11 ; I really struggle with reminding myself of this. If you hate, you cannot know love. So we must love everyone, which is soooooo difficult. For myself, I go to a school with people I can’t stand and I work at a restaurant with people I do not like at all, so I have to constantly remind myself to love them all. I’m sure I’m not the only one, so we really just have to pray about it and get help from God because this is one most of us can’t do without constantly asking for help. When you love everyone, it also creates peace.

1 John 2:15-16 ; This verse really stands out to me. When I was saved, I was at camp and they talked about idols all week. Idols were defined as anything that kept you from becoming closer to God. I would also define idols as things of the world. Pride and selfish desires comes from the world.

1 John 2:17 ; Things of this world will end, but things of the Lord live forever. My mom used to tell me how I can’t bring my possessions to Heaven so I shouldn’t get to attached to it, and she is completely right.

1 John 2:27 ; This is so relevant to me. Last week my pastor was talking to me and said that I do not want to stop sinning, but the Holy Spirit inside of me does. I see the Holy -Spirit as the Angel on my shoulder telling me what to do.

1 John 2:28-29 ; Basically, follow God and you will not have to worry about judgment day, because you will be a child of God.

If you want me to talk about any verse I didn’t go over, let me know!(:

Hope this speaks to at least one person, that’s my goal. God bless y’all♥

Btw my boyfriend accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior on June 20th 2012 c: I’m so proud of him. Camp this past week was awesome and his relationship with Christ has grown so much in so little time and I’m so blessed to have a front row seat to see what God is doing in his life.

1 John 1;

I am still not really sure how I want to do this, so I’m just going to break it down verse by verse.

1 John 1:1-3 ; Pretty basic, John’s message is about the Word that gives life and he’s experienced this word. He also wants to share the Word with us so that we may share the eternal life with him.

1 John 1:4 ; This is underlined in my Bible and I love this, it’s so simple but so great. “…this makes us truly happy.” Spreading the word makes John happy, just as spreading the word should make us happy. We should rejoice in spreading the word.

1 John 1:5 ; Here’s where it gets even better. “God is light and doesn’t have any darkness in him.” Our God is just awesome. This is one of those times where I just become more awestruck about our God. Light cannot coexist with darkness, so if there is light (God) there is no darkness. When we have God, we have no darkness.

1 John 1:6 ; We must not just say we live in the light, we must actually live in the light. Saying one thing and doing another is no bueno.

1 John 1:7 ; If we do live in the light, we will be forgiven and have eternal life. This verse makes it sound so easy, but it also sounds like a happy-ending-kind-of-story, doesn’t it? Forgiveness of all our sins AND eternal life with our savior? If we abide in the Lord and live in this great light.

1 John 1:8 ; Saying we have not sinned is so far from the truth.

1 John 1:9 ; I wrote this one down in my notebook. I have heard one too many people say that they feel like God won’t forgive them for what they’ve done wrong. This is a perfect verse if you know someone like that. Jesus died for every single sin that will ever be committed (that includes mine and yours). Our God is so faithful and merciful that he will forgive us for every single sin, no matter how big or small we think it is. When I think of forgiveness, the definition in my head is to pay all the debt one owes, not to hold one’s debt over his/her head, but to simply let it go.

1 John 1:10 ; This one made me think for a moment, because it says “we make God a liar” and I came to the conclusion that we make Him a liar because He takes our sins as His own, so if we lie, He becomes a liar? I’m not really sure about this one. Maybe it’s because we are supposed to be like a spitting image of Him but if we lie, He seems as a liar. If someone could help me with this one, that’d be appreciated!

I’m excited for tomorrow’s chapter! Sorry I’m late on this, I went straight from church to work, then worked all day and I took a nap on my break. Don’t forget to stay in the Word! God Bless♥

Anonymous asked: How do you feel about a husband calling his wife a bitch. How do I handle that? I'm beyond hurt.

….That is not acceptable in any way shape or form. You should definitely talk to him about it, pray about it, and if he doesn’t apologize, do what you think is necessary. I don’t think that is anywhere near the need for a divorce, but you have to tell him that is not acceptable and that it hurt you as much as it did. I’m so sorry you have to deal with that.

God bless♥
